How to categorize The Fifth Season? It’s fantasy, for sure, but it’s something unique to me too: it’s something like an environmental/geology fantasy. This was one of those ones I was up until 3 am to finish. And it’s only the first book in the series! The shifting perspectives (a whole third of the book is written in the second person!) that weave together into a few captivating twists and culminations was immensely satisfying.
To be honest I’m still having trouble writing this review and the main reason I keep putting it off so much is because I’m already halfway through the second book in the series, a mere three days later. Like, I don’t have time to write about Book 1 because I’m too busy reading Book 2. If that isn’t an endorsement, I don’t know what is!
